A company has already come up with the music for pet lovers to play to their furry friends through their own iPhone or iPod as a sound system that they claim will filter out harmful sounds that can distress animals.

The new sound filter system has been produced to help animals that are often stressed by very high or low frequency sounds that are created through normal speakers and are impossible for humans to hear. Pet Acoustics’ music is suitable for horses as well as dogs and cats and will be pitched at a calm volume and rhythm to blot out the ‘bad’ sounds that can cause an animal to react in an aggressive manor or that will induce feelings of anxiety.

The idea is that you can play the music during thunderstorms, firework displays and during other less noisy but none the less irritating tasks such as grooming.

The Pet Acoustics spokeswoman, Janet Marlow explained: “My Pet Speaker is the world’s first sound system designed to cater specifically to the hearing sensitivities of pets. It transforms your personal music library into pet friendly tunes that soothe and relax dogs, cats, horses and their owners. The limited frequencies and soft bass mean your pets will not be startled or disturbed by jarring volumes and piercing sounds that put them on alert”. The My Pet Speaker will go on sale in the UK in March.
